IT Governance releases vulnerability scanning service in response to Cyber Essentials scheme changes

24/04/2020

IT Governance, the leading provider of cyber security and data privacy risk management solutions and a division of GRC International Group, has released a new automated vulnerability scanning service to support organisations seeking Cyber Essentials certification.

Due to the standardisation of Cyber Essentials certification requirements and consolidation of accreditation bodies into one sole accreditation body, external vulnerability scans are no longer a requirement of the basic Cyber Essentials certification process. To help applicants maintain awareness of the security of their networks and applications, IT Governance has produced an automated scanning service that will meet the needs of those businesses that want an added level of independent assurance regarding their information security practices.

Neil Acworth, GRC International Group CIO and head of its software development arm, said: “As a former CREST-registered certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme, we have helped more than 2,000 organisations achieve certification through our online self-help portal. Now that the CREST requirements for Cyber Essentials have fallen away, we believe numerous organisations will be seeking that extra level of external assurance, other than the self-assessment questionnaire. Our vulnerability scanning service will do just that, enabling organisations to protect their external infrastructure and keep their data safe.”

The Vulnerability Scan is sold in batches of four IP addresses, and can be run as often as is required in any given month. The scans are sold on a monthly subscription basis and can be cancelled at any time.

Fast and easy to use, the fully automated service scans for thousands of vulnerabilities and enables organisations to quickly fix security weaknesses before criminals can exploit them.
